China's national oil majors are in advanced talks with Qatar to invest in the North Field East expansion of the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) project and buy the fuel under long-term contracts, three people with knowledge of the matter said.

Gadkari stated that infrastructure development is critical to achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's objective of making India a $5 trillion economy, and that road infrastructure is directly related to the prosperity of that region. According to him, road infrastructure connects people, culture, and society while also bringing prosperity through socioeconomic development.

"He has been granted one-month parole and he came out of the prison on Friday," a senior police official from Rohtak jail said. Earlier in February, the Dera chief was granted three week's furlough.

Agnipath protests: In several districts, the police had to resort to lathi charge and fire teargas shells to disperse the mob. Bulandshahr, Meerut, Agra, Mathura, Varanasi, Unnao, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Rae Bareli and Ballia are among the districts that have witnessed protests, with youth demanding the scheme's withdrawal.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav said the order was issued as protests were likely to spread to the second day here and that the administraton anticipated angry crowd at railway stations, bus stands, markets, national highways and power grids among other places in the district.

"As far as the question of Agniveers going to recruitment training centres is concerned, the training of first Agniveers will begin this December (in 2022) at the centres. The active service will commence in the middle of 2023," Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande said.

In a virtual address, the Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari said, "Happy to announce that the upper age limit (for recruitment) has been revised to 23 years. This will benefit the youth. The recruitment process for Indian Air Force will begin on June 24."

Protests over the scheme led to the cancellation of over 34 trains and the partial cancellation of eight more on Thursday. Due to the protests, 72 trains were also running late.

On June 14, the Union Cabinet approved the recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the Armed Forces wherein those selected under this scheme will be known as Agniveers.
